Adopt

Animals in need of adoption come from a variety of places. They may be an owner surrender due to an unfortunate circumstance, or a stray animal that no one has claimed (or worse, someone has ‘dumped’). They may be on ‘death row’ at a shelter that is overcrowded, or an abandoned mama and her babies found alone. Visit our Facebook page to view animals currently available for adoption.

Adoption Process

It is important to us that all of our animals find stable and loving homes. Our adoption process ensures that animals are placed in homes that fit their needs now and in the future.

1. Completion of application
Read and complete our adoption application below, answering all questions honestly and as thoroughly as possible.

2. Phone interview
Once we have reviewed your application and determine we would like to move forward, we will schedule a phone interview with you so we can get to know you a bit more and answer any questions you may have in regards to the adoption.

3. References including landlord approval
In addition to contacting your veterinary information (for any current or past pets), we will ask for two personal references and your landlord's contact information (if applicable).

4. Home visit
To ensure the safety and well being of all our animals, a home visit must take place before any adoption approval. During this home visit we will be reviewing indoor and outdoor space that will be available to the adoptee, discuss any special circumstances that may be helpful like sleeping and eating locations, as well as any other needs or concerns.

5. Adoption approval, Adoption Contract & Fee
Once you have been approved for adoption, the completed adoption contract is due along with the applicable adoption fee. Fees may range from $300 and up depending on the particular pet and the expenses incurred to date. Please know that WAGS does not profit from adoption fees, but instead strives to cover a portion of the vetting, transport and supply costs so that we may continue to save the next animal in need.

6. Arrange transporTation for your new family member
Once it is official, arrangements will be made with you to pick up your new furry family member,  either at the foster or from the transport location.
